I-80 Stirs it up with Alphabet Soup Race Sunday

"Greenwood, NE (5/24/06) Two nights of exciting racing are on tap this weekend with the I-80 Speedway NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing on Saturday night and the 5 th Annual Alphabet Soup Race presented by Your Area Dodge Dealers on Sunday night.

The Alphabet Soup Race, co-sanctioned by the WDRL, NCRA and MLRA, promises to have one of the strongest fields of cars ever this weekend. “The Memorial Day weekend has always been one of our early-season highlights,” commented Jim Wilson, founder and President of the WORLD Dirt Racing League. “I-80 Speedway has always attracted extremely large fields of cars and outstanding racing.”

A pair of WDRL champions headline what promises to be a stellar field of drivers on hand for the holiday weekend swing. Marquette, Nebraska's Kyle Berck, who won back-to-back series titles in 2002 and 2003, turned in an eye-popping performance a few weeks ago at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa when he started 20 th in a star-studded 26-car field and raced to an impressive fourth place finish. Denny Eckrich of Tiffin, Iowa, the winner of the 2005 PolyDome Late Model Series crown, finished ninth at Knoxville after a sixth-place season-opening finish at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa on April 8.
