Eagle Raceway:
By Eagle Raceway Staff
It was another chilly spring evening for “Moms Rule Night” at Eagle Raceway. But the cool temperatures and a brisk northerly wind did nothing to take away from some great racing.
Thankfully, it was a fairly accident-free night at “America’s Home Track”, with only two minor incidents to mar the festivities.
Nathan Lundgren apparently got up into the marbles coming out of turn 2 in the first IMCA Modified B Feature, causing him to bicycle and nearly tip over before making hard contact with the backstretch wall. Nathan evidently got the wind knocked out of him, but was more or less unhurt at last report.
The Tuner, Hobby Stock and IMCA Modified A features all went green, white, checkered with great racing throughout.
The second accident happened on the first lap of the 360 Sprint A Feature, when Larry Pinegar had a nasty flip, also in turn 2. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. Sadly, 4 of the cars involved were unable to continue. Larry Pinegar’s 13f, the 7L of Rob Lipker, Tige Jensen’s 71 and Bruce Divis’ 24W were damaged too badly to be able to make repairs in time to rejoin the field.
Mike Boston quickly moved up from his 7th starting position to repeat last week’s outcome as the winner, followed closely by Bobby Becker. Afterwards Mike said “It’s so hard to get even one win here at Eagle. That’s all I had last year, one win. And to repeat is almost unheard of. I’m just pretty much speechless!”
Maynard Kinnersly managed to beat out last week’s winner, his son Barry Kinnersly. Maynard had this to say about his A Feature win: “It’s about time I outran my son. I’m having a really good time racing here at Eagle, and it’s great fun battling with Barry. Plus, I got this great big check to take home to the wife”.
In the IMCA Modified A Feature, Stacy Wilhelm got out to an early lead but with just 10 laps to go Clint Homan managed to get by on the front stretch. Dave Trauernicht moved quickly toward the front from deep in the field to finish 3rd. After the races Clint said “I want to wish all the mothers, and especially my own mom a Happy Mother’s Day. I also want to be sure my dad knows how much I appreciate all of his help. And I want to say a big thank you to my girlfriend Kylie for her support”.
In the Hobby Stock A Feature, the 1X of Rich Small took the lead from his starting position on the front row and finished ½ a lap ahead of 2nd place Rob Brown’s 42. He also echoed all of the driver’s feeling when he stated “I want to wish my mom a very happy Mother’s Day”. He also went on to say “What a great track tonight. I want to thank my sponsors, Front Runner Fab and Triple-H Farms for being there for me. Although, I always say that if you can’t win from the front row, you won’t be winning many races”.
Be sure to come out next weekend for McDonalds Junior Fan Club Night. There will be a $1000 kids money grab on the front stretch, so bring the youngsters. Of course, there will be a full night of racing with the 360 sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Tuners.
