Beatrice Speedway 5-6-06 Results

SPUNAUGLE TAKES HOME WIN WITH LAST LAP PASS AT BEATRICE SPEEDWAY

Great Crowd, Great Car Count and Awesome racing headlined the Ron Eaton Memorial Races at Beatrice Speedway with Tony Spunaugle of Blue Rapids, Ks taking advantage of a last lap bobble by Travis Runcie in the IMCA Hobby Stock A Feature to take the lead and hold on to pick up his first win of the 2006 race season. Spunaugle ran second to Runcie the whole feature until a bobble by Runcie in the middle of turn 1 and 2 gave Spunaugle the opportunity to get under him and make the pass and then go on to take the checkered flag, Jesse Vanlaningham, Kyle Vanover, Ryan Roschewski and Josh Houseman rounded out the top 5.

Benji Legg of Beatrice made it a 3 for 3 season in the Limited Modifieds. Legg took the lead around halfway in the A Feature and ran away from the field for his 3rd straight win. Tom Vanover Jr, Eric Hanson, Kevin Vanlaningham and Mike Snyder rounded out the first 5.

Roy Armstrong of Beatrice picked up his 2nd A Feature win of the 2006 race season in the factory stocks. He took the lead from Neal Mittan late in the race and went on to take the win. Mittan, Aaron Roth, Lyle Slama and Cary Ames completed the front 5.

Josh Carpenter of Fairbury took the honors in the IMCA Stock Cars holding off Lance Borgman, James Griffith, Hugh Carmichael and Todd Laflin in a hard fought battle with good close racing among the leaders.

Gary Saathoff took the win in the IMCA Modifieds holding off David Trauernicht in a one lap shootout after a late race yellow. Saathoff withstood challenges from David Trauernicht and Johnny Saathoff to take home the well deserved win. Trauernicht, Jason Logan, Jordan Grabouski and Brent Schlake rounded out the front 5.

The Cruiser team of Darren Meinke/Nathan Rosentreader took home the honors in the Cruisers followed by Wilcox/Blakemore, Schmersal/Marker, Stohs/Holle and Little/Little.
