5th Annual “Alphabet Soup” Race Returns to I-80 Memorial Day Weekend

GREENWOOD, NE (May 17) The fifth annual edition of the “Alphabet Soup Race” presented by your area Dodge Dealers will make its way to I-80 Speedway on Sunday, May 28th. The event will feature our local Dodge Super Late Model stars competing with the drivers of the MLRA, NCRA and the WDRL plus the Home Pride Pro Modifieds and Grand National Late Models. The Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stocks will have the night off and qualified drivers in that division will be treated to two FREE grandstand tickets to the event if they have participated in 3 of the 4 weekly races held to date as a show of appreciation for their participation.

Participating area Dodge dealers in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa are giving away $5 OFF coupons at their dealerships just for stopping in. A complete list of the participating dealers is listed at the end of this release.

The purses will be raised for the Pro Modifieds and Grand Nationals with $500 going to the winners in each division and no entry fee. The event is NOT a regular season point’s night for either of the classes and I-80 Speedway’s Sunday Night rules will apply to both classes. All drivers meeting the rules in both divisions are invited to compete. Everyone will draw for their heat starting position and WDRL passing points will be used to determine the qualified cars from the heats, with B features rounding out the 24 car starting field and provisionals for the top two non-qualified cars from I-80’s then current points standings added to make 26 cars starting the Feature event in both classes. Both divisions will be competing for a $3185 A Feature purse.

Sunday’s racing action begins at 6:30pm. The pit gate opens at 2pm, grandstand gate at 4:30pm with hot laps at 6pm. Pit passes will be $30. Adult grandstand admission is $20.00, Seniors 62 and older and Students ages 11 thru 17 are $17.00, and Children 10 and under are FREE.
