Kosiski Stays Undefeated In July at I-80 Speedway

By Joey Sparano

(GREENWOOD NEB., 07/15/06) Joe Kosiski stays perfect in the month of July by winning his fourth feature in as many tries Sunday. Scott Carlson, Harley Moen, and Tom Myers also were victorious on Kids Race Car Ride Night at the I-80 Speedway.

The 25 lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Super Latemodel "A" feature saw Rookie Jerry Warner take the early lead on lap one. Warner would loose the lead just as fast on lap two as the "Mad Dog" Scott Koskovich made a power move going into turn one. Koskovich would be the dominate force until lap ten when he would slow and pull into the pits with overheating problems. Warner would retake the top spot. Lap 11 would see the only yellow of the race as Keith Mander Jr. went into the spin cycle. On the restart it was Warner with Jeff Tilley and Joe Kosiski on his bumper. The three ran nose to tail until lap 17 when Kosiski snuck by Tilley for second. On lap 18 Warner would slide high in turn four, that gave Kosiski the slightest opening and he took advantage of it. Kosiski would go on to lead the final six laps to win his seventh feature of the season. Warner and Tilley were second and third. Jason Hobsheidt and Leon Zeitner rounded off the top five.

Scott Carlson would take the lead on lap four from Bill Bader Jr. and go on to win the 18 lap Home Pride Modified feature. Points leader Brian Foote was second followed by Justin Clark, Bader Jr., and Jerimiah Sillman.

The 20 lap Grand National Latemodel "A" main seen Dave Cook hold the lead through two early race yellows from his pole position. On the lap two restart Cook would loose the top spot to Ron Tilley, but on lap five Cook would go by Tilley's #56t on the high side of the track. The car that was on the move was the #J1 of Harley Moen. After starting outside front row, Moen fell back through the field. Moen found home on the bottom and started charging through the field. Lap eight he was in third, lap nine second, and on lap 13 Moen finally took the lead. Dave Cook would stay in the gas and pass Moen back on lap 16, but Moen would come back on lap 17 and take the lead for good. The Minnesota native would take his first win of the season. Jason Hobsheidt took second after starting 18th. Cook, Dave Livingston, and Dave Doll were the remaining top five.

Tom Myers would jump to a ten car length lead on lap one of the Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stock "A" feature. Myers would stay out front until lap 14 when the yellow flew for Kenny Toliver-Humpal. Myers would have Jeremy Auten and Jesse Sobbing on his back bumper, but he was able to hold on for the win. Auten and Sobbing remained second and third, while Justin Leach and Josh True were fourth and fifth. Since Tom Myers won his own Tom and Tiff's Family Restaurant Bonus, next weeks winner will get an extra $200.
