Don Maxwell's Passing

For those who aren't old enough to remember Don, he was not only a highly regarded sprint car driver racing at Midwest and Eagle as late as the 1980's he was also a gifted craftsman.

His cars were THE machines to have in the 70's. His mechanical talents went beyond racing - including a mobile, fold out stage that you may have seen at Eagle Raceway during their concert nights.

From RaceTracker's Blog: "Don Maxwell lost a long battle with cancer on Saturday July 8, 2006. 'Max' moved to Lincoln, NE., in 1972 and began a car-building business along with Jan Opperman. Throughout the 1970s, the Maxwell was the Sprint Car to have if you wanted to go fast. Maxwell was inducted into the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2003."
