LIVINGSTON, BULIN, NIXON, KURTZER, HUTCHISON & CHRISTENSEN
A-FEATURE WINNERS AT I-80 SPEEDWAY
Jim Brennan
(Greenwood, Ne., 7/08/06) The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing action
continued at I-80 Speedway Saturday night with Dave Livingston, Shawn Bulin,
Harry Nixon, Austin Kurtzer, Corey Hutchison and Nate Christensen picking up
feature wins as the Race to The Chase comes down to the final few weeks before
points are reset for the top 10’s.
The 20 lap Crate Late Model feature saw Ron Tex Jr. grab the early lead from the pole
position with Tony Leonardo in 2nd. Brad Perdue, who started 8th, grabbed the lead from Tex on lap
9 and looked like he would put an end to his winless streak. But multiple cautions over the last 10 laps gave Dave
Livington the break he was looking for. Livingston chased down Perdue and took the lead on lap 16 and went on to
record his 3rd win of the year. Jason Hobscheidt closed strong to take 2nd from Perdue on lap 19. Billy Leighton Jr.
finished 4th with Tex in 5th.
The Certified Transmission Pro-am feature saw Tim Podraza take the early lead
only to lose it on lap 4 to Jason Cieslik. Shawn Bulin took the lead on lap 6. But
Rick Negrete and Larry Robinson Jr. were putting on quite a show for the fans.
Both drivers had to earn their way into the A by running the B-Feature. Robinson
Won the B and Negrete finished 4th. By lap 4 of the A Negrete was up to 5th and
Robinson moved to 6th on lap 7. Robinson would make his way up front to challenge
Bulin. They swapped the lead on lap 14 and Robinson took the point on lap 15.
But on lap 17 Robinson bobbled in turn 2 and Bulin retook the lead and went on
To his 2nd feature win of the year. Negrete closed strong to finish 2nd ahead of
Point leader Scotty Hartman.
The B-Mod feature was a battle between Bobby McCall and Harry Nixon with
Both drivers swapping the lead several times. Nixon took control for good on
lap 8 and went on to his 4th win of the season. Nixon leads the points over 2nd
place finisher Jim Fritz. McCall held on for 3rd ahead of Daryl Weilage and Jim
Hendricks.
The Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro Hornets had enough cars for 2 A-Features once again.
Jeff Hoeft took the early lead in the first feature only to lose it to Darin Hoegren.
Austin Kurtzer, who started 14th in a backup car, charged up to 2nd by lap 2.
Kurtzer took the lead in the closing laps and went on to his 2nd win of the year.
In the 2nd feature Michael Bockman took the early lead only to lose it on a restart
to Corey Hutchison. Hutchison built an insurmountable lead and went on to
record his 2nd win of the year. Rick havenridge came on to take 2nd ahead of
Bockman.
The TFN Novice Hornet feature saw Nate Christensen take the lead on lap 3 from
early leader Justin Soule. Chritensen went on to record the win his first in 3 weeks.
Steve McConnel finished 2nd ahead of Soule.
