IMCA Mods, Stocks, Hobbies top July 28-31 Thunder Series

RED CLOUD, Neb. (July 13) – Three IMCA divisions get top billing in the four night, four race Thunder Series scheduled July 28-31.

Sanctioned Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks headline shows on Friday, July 28 at The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, Saturday and Sunday, July 29-30 at Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton, Kan., and Monday, July 31 at Osborne, Kan., Speedway.

Friday’s Modified main pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start. The Stock Car feature pays $500 to win and $100 to start, while the Hobbies race for a $300 top prize. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, the Modifieds chase a $400 check, with $300 to win in the Stocks and $200 to win in the Hobbies. Pits open at 4 p.m. with the first heat race at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s show is the Bud Shoot-Out, with special events contingencies given in both the Modified and Stock Car divisions. Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start, while the Stocks run for $750 to win and a minimum of $100. First place in the Hobby feature pays $400.

Gates open at 3:30 p.m. for the Shoot-Out and racing gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

The county fair program Monday at Osborne sports top checks of $400 for the Modifieds, $300 for the Stocks and $200 for the Hobbies in races for points to be applied at Elmwood Park. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.

Bonuses will be paid to the top four drivers in point standings for the series. The payout for Modifieds is $250-$125-$75-$50, and $150-$100-$75-$50 for both the Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks.

Winners of both the July 28 and July 30 Modified events will be added to the ballot for the 2007 All-Star Invitational, as will the overall series champion. The top driver in Stock Car points becomes eligible to qualify for the Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions at this year’s Super Nationals.
