RED CLOUD, NE (August 30)—The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, will get in their season finale on Sunday evening, September, 17, after IMCA approved the race Wednesday.
Originally IMCA would not approve the make-up date at Red Cloud due to Lexington, NE, also rescheduling their final race on that date because of a rainout on Sunday, August 27. Since Lexington normally runs on Sunday nights, IMCA approved their make-up date and would not sanction the Red Cloud race. However, promoters at both tracks conferred and felt that very few drivers competed regularly at both tracks and both contacted IMCA. IMCA then gave approval to The Speed Bowl to race on Sept. 17, along with Lexington.
The Red Cloud finale will get underway at 6:00 p.m. with make-up features for both the IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Modifieds to be run first. Then a complete regular race program will be run, followed by mechanics and powder puff races. Late Models will NOT be on the Sept. 17 race card.
The Cruiser feature was completed on Friday evening, August 18, and 8 laps of the 14-lap IMCA Hobby Stock feature was completed before the race was red-flagged because of rain. The hobby stock feature has been declared official as the race was past the halfway mark, and race leader Jamie Reiman of Blue Hill was declared the winner.
