Chapman Leads ASCS Midwest Region into Tuesday Night I-80 Special

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 11, 2006) – Lincoln, Nebraska's Toby Chapman is just two steps away from a first career championship. Chapman can come one step closer in next Tuesday night's American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region event at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway.

After a runner-up finish in 2005 ASCS Midwest Region points, Chapman holds a 61-point lead over 16-year-old Jack Dover of Springfield, NE, entering Tuesday night's event that also features the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits COMP Cams Tour 'N Topless series atop the semi-banked, 4/10-mile clay oval.

Chapman, who scored his first career ASCS win in Midwest Region action at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO, on June 23, and young hotshoe Dover lead a strong field of contenders into the event, with Lincoln's Jason Danley currently third in points, just 66 points behind Dover.

Lincoln's Mike Chadd enters the event ranked fourth, just eight markers behind Danley, with Rick Ideus of Silver City, IA, rounding out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten includes Jake Peters (Sioux Falls, SD), Chad Humston (Giltner, NE), Luke Cranston (Ness City, KS), Chuck Swenson (Watertown, SD) and Brian Brown (Grain Valley, MO"

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, with grand stand gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps commence at 6:45 p.m., with racing action going green at 7:30 p.m.
