HOBSCHEIDT, HARTMAN, RICHARDS, KURTZER & CHRISTENSEN WINNERS IN WEEK 3 OF THE CHASE

Jim Brennan

(Greenwood, Ne., 8/26/06) The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Race for the Chase saw repeat winners in all classes; Jason Hobscheidt, Scotty Hartman, Floyd Richards, Austin Kurtzer and Nate Christensen.

The Certified Transmission Pro-am 18 lap feature saw Rick Negrete jump to the early lead. But point leader Scotty Hartman got a good jump from his 6 th row outside start and by lap 2 he was up to second. On lap 5 Hartman took the lead with Chad Sanders and Jason Cieslik giving chase. Cieslik moved into second on lap 12 and proceeded to make this a close race. On the last lap out of turn 4 Cieslik dropped to the inside of Hartman and got right up alongside of him. But Hartman was not to be denied and powered to his 6 th win of the year and third straight in the Race for the Chase. Cieslik held on to second ahead of Sanders, Terry leveland and Nick Hermsen.

The Dodge Crate Late Model 20 lap feature saw Tony Leonardo grab the early lead with Shawn Harker right behind him. As they completed lap 1 Harker had the lead. Jason Hobscheidt started the feature on the inside of row 4 and by lap 3 he was up to 4 th . On lap 5 Hobscheidt took the lead and sped away from the rest of the field. Point leader Billy Leighton Jr. moved to second on lap 10 but could not reel in Hobscheidt. For Hobscheidt it was his 4 th win of the season. Brad Perdue grabbed third ahead of Harker, Brad Soll and Craig Preble.

The Sports Mod feature saw Larry Robinson Sr. take the early lead only to have “Fearless Floyd” Richards pass him out of turn 3. Richards maintained the lead til the bitter end picking up his 4 th feature win of the year. In doing so Richards took over the point lead by 2 over Robinson and Harry Nixon. Nixon's car had transmission problems in the heat race, so he jumped into Mike Christiansen's car and came home with a 6 th place finish. Jim Hendricks had his best finish of the year in third ahead of Jim Fritz and Lacey Tuttle.

The Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro-Hornets feature belonged to Austin Kurtzer who led from start to finish. Kurtzer had several bad weeks that saw hin drop from first to ninth in points. So with a low point average he started on the outside front row. Brandon Wergin made an attempt to stay close, but had to settle for 2nd ahead of Point leader Lindsey Yost, Kevin Stanzel and Joe McConnell.

The TFN Novice Hornet feature Deanna Wallace and Sara Doll broke out front With Wallace taking the lead in turn 2. Point leader Nate Christensen took the lead On lap 4 and cruised to his 9 th feature win. Justin Soule came on to finish 2nd Ahead of Steve McConnell, Thomas Liechti and Will McConnell.
