RED CLOUD, Neb. (July 21) – The July 27-29 Thunder Series at The
Speed Bowl in Red Cloud and Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton, Kan.,
has the potential to put three IMCA Modified drivers on the ballot
for the 2008 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
Friday night's opener at Red Cloud and Sunday's Bud Shoot-Out special
at Norton both pay $1,000 to win; Saturday's feature at Elmwood Park
has a top check of $400. The Friday and Sunday winners, as well as
the driver with the top point total for the weekend will become All-
Star candidates.
Sanctioned Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks run all three nights, with the
top driver in Stock Car points becoming eligible to qualify for the
Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions during the upcoming IMCA Speedway
Motors Super Nationals.
IMCA national, regional, Smiley's Racing Products state and local
track points will be awarded in all three divisions.
Stock Car features pays $500 to win Friday, $300 on Saturday and $750
on Sunday. Hobby Stock features pay $300 to win on Friday, $200 on
Saturday and $400 on Sunday.
Bonuses will also be paid to the top four drivers in point standings
for the series. The payout for Modifieds is $300-$150-$100-$75, $200-
$125-$100-$75 for the Stocks and $150-$100-$75-$50 for the Hobbies.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Friday. Times are 4
p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
