Junior Fan Club Night, sponsored by McDonalds saw a large crowd turn out at Eagle Raceway, America’s Home Track tonight. With intermittent drops of rain keeping the track very tacky all of the heats ran without incident. The Monster Energy Drink IMCA Modifieds, the Budweiser Championship 360 Sprint Cars, the Valentino’s Pizza IMCA Hobby Stocks and the Stereo West Auto Toys IMCA Sport Compacts each finished 3 all of their heats cleanly.
At intermission there was a $1000 Kids Money Grab on the front stretch for those 13 and under. As the children scrambled for cash the rain began to become more and more persistent. After the track was cleared, most of the drivers voluntarily came back onto the track to attempt to save it so that the races could continue. After much effort by the racers the B Features were begun.
In the Stereo West Auto Toys IMCA Sport Compact B Feature Corey Madden jumped into 1st in his #2C with the 00 of Barry Kinnersley, the 18 of Maynard Kinnersley and Jason Tadlock in the 99 behind him. Tadlock passed Maynard Kinnersley with 4 laps to go, and after the leaders had passed the flag stand the 4U of James Snelling made hard contact with the wall coming out of turn #4. On the restart the running order was Lane, Barry Kinnersley, Tadlock and Maynard Kinnersley. With just 2 laps left Chris LaChappelle moved his #31 around Maynard Kinnersley to take over 4th place. At the checkered flag it was Lane, Barry Kinnersley, Tadlock, LaChapelle and Maynard Kinnersley transferring to the A Feature.
Next on the track was the Valentino’s Pizza IMCA Hobby Stock B Feature. Dany Lane took the lead in his #17J followed by the 86 of Justin Wulf, the 38C of Casey Moyer and the 21H of Shane Hiatt close on his rear bumper. On the 3rd lap Hiatt moved around Moyer, and on the following circuit he also passed Wulf for 2nd position. They held their positions to the checkers.
Then the Monster Energy Drink IMCA Modifieds were called for the B Main. Shane Thone took the lead in his #1S with Jan Korth’s #42K in second, the 24X of Darren Hosick, the 3A of Aaron Pella and Ed Raines in the 11AA behind. With 7 laps left Pella moved all the way into the 3rd spot. On the next lap Nic Bonney’s #95B and the #52 of Sean Manning got together, bringing out the yellow flag. Both cars were forced to retire to the pits. Before the green flag could be displayed for the restart of the race the rains came again, eventually leading to the races being called for the night due to the impending threat of even heavier precipitation.
The Stereo West Auto Toys IMCA Sport Compacts, the Valentino’s Pizza Hobby Stocks and the Monster Energy Drink IMCA Modifieds will run their features next week. Due to next week’s program featuring the Bud Light Wingless Sprints, the Budweiser Championship 360 Sprints will run their features on August 18th.
Next week Z92 and Jack Daniels sponsor “Sizzlin’ August Nights” featuring the Bud Light Wingless 360 Sprints, the Monster Energy Drink IMCA Modifieds, the Stereo West Auto Toys IMCA Sport Compacts and the Valentino’s Pizza IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Next week will also be Mike Cacak Night at Eagle Raceway. 50% of the profits from the racing will be donated to the “Mike Cacak Benefit Fund”. There will also be other events throughout the night of racing to raise additional money for the fund.
Thanks for supporting Eagle Raceway…America’s Home Track!
