Deal's Win Highlights Rain Shortened Event At I-80 Speedway

By: Joey Sparano

(GREENWOOD NEB., 07/28/07) As a light rain fell over I-80 Speedway, five of seven feature events would be completed before the races would have to come to a halt. Nick Deal, Harry Nixon, Steve England, Ryan Gladwin, and Scott Naggatz would all visit victory lane as Pegler Sysco presented the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

The 18 lap Ty's Outdoor Power Equipment Pro Stock "A" main event would start out with Denny Berghahn Jr. taking the early lead. As Berghahn held the point, the car on the move was the #55d of Nick Deal. Deal who started sixth would make his way to the second position a in less than a hand full of laps, and would pass Berghahn for the lead after the halfway mark. Deal would than cruise the final laps on route to victory. Berghahn finished second. Tim Podraza, Alan Schmitt, and Chad Sanders rounded out the top five.

Harry Nixon would jump out front on lap one of the 15 lap Midas B-Mod "A" feature. With Nixon out front and the #48o of Greg Tichy in second, the car on the move was the #1s of Scott Carlson. Carlson would take advantage of a few yellow flags to make his way to the front, and on lap eleven he would make his bid for the lead. Coming off turn two Carlson would pull to the outside of Nixon, but Nixon would shut the door halfway down the back chute. Carlson would them drive in hard into turn three sending his #1s hard into the outside wall. Carlson evening would end then as he pulled into the pit area. The final four laps would go to Nixon as he picked up the feature win. Tichy was second. Jared Hoefelman came home third. Floyd Richards and Larry Robinson Sr. rounded out the top five.

The 12 lap Stereo West Auto Toys Pro Hornet feature would start with Joe Baker taking the early lead. Baker would soon have company for the top spot as a host of cars battled for the lead. The car that came out of the pack with the advantage was the #81 of Steve England. England would stay out front for the remaining laps to take the win. Nate Christensen, Baker, Pete Fink Jr., and Dave Christensen were the remainder of the top five.

Ryan Gladwin would win the 8 lap Novice Crate Late Model feature event. Gladwin would pick up the win in his third different car this season. Amanda Leonardo, Steve Saunders, Lindsey Yost, Scott Keffer, and Logan Svagera rounded out the field.

The Outlaw Vintage Lights Dwarf Series would make their way to I-80 Speedway. Scott Naggatz would pick up the feature win. Rob Papstein would finish second. Terry Vantine, Chick De Moss, and Jeff Fuhr rounded out the top five.

Both the Stereo West Auto Toys Novice Hornet and the Great Clips Crate Late Model feature events were postponed due to rain. Both features will be raced next weekend.
