Three first time winners at Red Cloud

By Mike Hughes

RED CLOUD, NE (June 29)—Three new faces graced victory lane at The Speed
Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, Friday evening, June 29. Two of those included
the father and son duo of Jerry and Josh Hudson of Kensington, who
pulled off the hat trick for the second time in a week, as both won last
Saturday night at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS.

Jerry took the lead on lap 2 of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature from Pat
Hersh and led to the only caution in the 14-lap race on lap 6 when
Andrew Lovegrove drove off turn 4. Hudson led the field back to green,
followed by Joe McDole, and heat race winners Kyle Bond and Jim Buss.
The top seven were close throughout the race but Hudson held on to win
his first feature of the year at Red Cloud. McDole finished a close
second, trailed by Bond, Buss, and Murray Haugan II.

Jason McCartney led the first half of the 18-lap IMCA Stock Car feature
before Josh Hudson made the pass for a lead he would not relinquish.
Hudson was first at the checkers, his first Speed Bowl win this year,
followed by Jason Smidt, McCartney, Jason Davis and heat two winner Matt
Streit. Jared Remus won the other heat race.

'The Red Cloud Rocket' Lonnie Schriner won his third IMCA Modified
feature at his hometown track. Heat one winner Tim Watts led the first 4
laps before Schriner took the top spot. Schriner led at the halfway mark
of the 20-lap race, while Brandon Blochlinger, Jordan Grabouski and
Watts were hooked up in a heated race for second. But both Watts and
Grabouski went to the pits during the event, ending their night.
Schriner took the win, followed by Blochlinger, Scott Smith, Larry
Sutton and Lonnie Veteto. Heat one winner Troy Johnson was sixth.

Adam Sidlo & E.J. Kothe won their fifth Cruiser feature of the year at
the 3/8-mile oval. Terry Gradig & Jeremy Teselle were second. David
Theer & Troy Himmelberg won the heat race.

Troy Porter of Harvard won his first 4-cylinder feature race. Joshua
Bodenus was second. Porter also won the heat race.

The regular five divisions return this Friday night, July 6. Racing
begins at 8:00 p.m., followed by a fireworks show.
