Hobscheidt Takes Crate Late Model Victory At I-80 Speedway

By: Joey Sparano

(GREENWOOD NEB., 06/09/07) After a warm day turned into a nice night, Jason
Hobscheidt, Chad Sanders, Jared Hoefelman, Trish Dover, Dave Christensen,
Ryan Gladwin, and Joe Mcconnell all visited victory lane as Craftsman Tools
presented the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at I-80 Speedway.

The 20 lap Great Clips Crate Late Model "A" feature event saw Andrew Kosiski
jump to an early lead from his outside front row position. Kosiski would
lead until the caution flew on lap five, and then on the restart the #3 of
Mike Collins and the #1 of Jason Hobscheidt would drive by Kosiski's #2x.
Collins would survive the challenges made by Hobscheidt after a few late
race cautions and go on to win the feature event. But as the #3 went across
the scales it was found to be to light, and Collins was DQed. Hobscheidt
took the win, Kosiski was second, Craig Preble would finish third after
starting 13th, Dave Livingston and Al Humphrey rounded out the top five.

Chad Sanders would win the 18 lap Ty's Outdoor Power Equipment Pro Stock "A"
main. The race would start with a hand full of yellows including a hard
crash involving the #92 of Tony Barnes. Barnes would be transported to a
local hospital for precautionary reasons. Once the race got back under way
it was Chad Sanders in front. Sanders would be able to hold the lead through
another slew of yellow, and with a few laps to go track officials checkered
flagged the race. Sanders was declared the winner, Rick Negrete, Shawn
Bulin, Tim Podraza, and Marty Steinbach finished in the top five.

The 15 lap Midas B-Mod main event seen a record number amount of cars on
hand. The #15H of Jared Hoefelman would take the early lead and hold on for
the win. Scott Carlson would finish second after starting 12th. Harry Nixon,
the "One Man Band" Nick Hermsen, and Larry Robinson Sr finish third through
fifth.

Trish Dover would pass Nick Clifford with two laps remaining to win the 12
lap Midwest Linings 305 Sprint Car "A" feature. Clifford would jump to an
early lead, with Dover taking her time through traffic in the early stages
of the race. Dover would get to second, and chase down Clifford in the last
hand full of laps. Matt Stelzer and Dan Satriano were the only other cars to
finish the race.

Dave Christensen would start on the front row and win the 12 lap Stereo West
Auto Toys Pro Hornet "A" feature. Jeff Joldersma would finish second after
starting in the the sixth row. The #28 of Corey Askeland finished third.
Justin Soule finished fourth after loosing his front bumper cover in the
middle stages of the race. Joe Baker finished fifth.

Ryan Gladwin would pass Rob Kosiski with a few laps remaining to win the
Novice Crate "A" main. Lindsey Yost and Mollee Collins finished third and
fourth.

The 8 lap Stereo West Auto Toys Novice Hornets feature saw the #b52 of Dan
Rasmussen take the lead early in the event. Rasmussen looked as if he had
the race in hand, but a late race caution gave the rest of the field a
chance. On the restart the #2 of Joe Mcconnell would take the lead, and go
on to take the win. Brett Smith, Russell Johnson, Rasmusen, and Kortney
Zimmerman rounded out the top five.
