Brown is the McCool Man in ASCS Midwest Region

By Lonnie Wheatley

McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. (June 29, 2007) – After opening the season with five different winners in as many events, the American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region had its first repeat winner of the year on Friday night as Missouri's Brian Brown raced to victory lane in the 25-lap feature at Junction Motor Speedway.

Brown, who won the season opener at I-80 Speedway on April 14, chased down race-long leader Jason Danley in lapped traffic and made a move into the lead on the 24th lap to snare his eighth career ASCS Midwest Region feature win aboard Tim and Gina Doogs' Ostrich-powered No. 21 Maxim.

"Jason (Danley) ran a great race tonight and he doesn't have anything to be ashamed of," Brown commented from victory lane. "He just got caught up with that lapped car and I got by. I'd like to thank Tim and Gina Doogs for giving me a great car tonight, they are like family to me!"

While Brown gridded the feature field fifth, it was polesitter Danley outgunning Jake Peters for the early lead. Danley needed just three laps to open up a straightaway lead over Peters and Toby Chapman, with Brown taking fourth from Chuck Swenson on the sixth lap.

With Danley working lapped traffic, Brown battled past Chapman for third on the eight lap then took second from Peters two laps later. The caution flew soon after, when Chapman made contact with a lapped car at the midway point and came to a stop with a broken shock.

Back under way, Danley once again pulled away, leaving Brown and Peters to battle for second. But as Danley encountered lapped traffic on the 19th circuit, Brown began to close the gap. Brown raced into the lead with a lap-and-a-half to go and cruised to the win.

Danley settled for second, with Peters taking the show position. Ryan Roberts crossed the stripe fourth, with Chuck Swenson rounding out the top five. Skip Jackson was sixth, with Ryan Anderson, Mike Chadd, Jack Dover and Don Droud, Jr., completing the top ten.

After transferring from "B" Main action, Natalie Sather retained a slim 13-point lead in ASCS Midwest Region points by advancing to eleventh in the main event.

Swenson, Rick Ideus and Danley topped heat race action, with Mike Boston winning the "B" Main.
