Mark Burch Motorsports Calls on Cell Phone Users to Help Save Abducted Children

From Mark Burch Motorsports

Lincoln, Neb. – September 22, 2006 - Mark Burch Motorsports announced today that they are joining the campaign to add 1-million new subscribers to Wireless AMBER Alerts™, a free initiative that equips citizens to help aid in the recovery of an abducted child.

Provided by The Wireless Foundation, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the U.S. Department of Justice, Wireless AMBER Alerts make it possible for any wireless subscriber capable of receiving text messages, and whose wireless carrier participates in the Wireless AMBER Alerts Initiative, to opt in to receive AMBER Alerts as free text messages on their wireless devices by registering at www.wirelessamberalerts.org or their wireless carrier’s website. Subscribers may designate up to five geographic areas for which they would like to receive free Wireless AMBER Alerts.

“As a parent and a traveling racer, I felt this was a perfect opportunity for our organization to help raise awareness of this program,” states team owner Mark Burch. “This weekend our driver Skip Jackson, also a proud parent, who is originally from Sydney, Australia and currently from Knoxville, Iowa, will be a great asset to gaining exposure at the racetrack with his broad fan base.”

The Mark Burch Motorpsorts team is heading today to Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD for a two day ASCS Northern Plains competition. With www.wirelessamberalerts.org emblazoned on the side of their hauler and race car the team looks to reach not only thousands of fans, but also travelers as well.

“We are excited to be involved with a prominent team like Mark Burch Motorsports,” said Steve Largent, President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association and President of the Wireless Foundation. “The exposure generated on a grass-roots level racing venue such as this is a perfect addition to our awareness program.”
