I-80 Cornhusker Classic Details and Purse

Nebraska Raceway Park’s I-80 Speedway is pleased to announce the details of the 2007 Cornhusker Classic scheduled for September 21st through the 23rd. 8 divisions of race cars will compete for over $60,000 in awards and prize money over the 2 day event. The NCRA/TORA Late Models will headline this year’s event with Pro Hornets, Hobby Stocks, Pro Stocks (ProAms and Stock Cars), Grand Nationals, Modifieds, and IMCA/USRA/I-80 Speedway Type Late Models rounding out the star studded weekend. The Novice Crates and Novice Hornets will compete in one trophy feature race only.

Friday, September 21st will kick off with practice from 7:00-10:00 p.m., and pit gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Pit passes are $15, and grandstand admission is free. The Pre Cornhusker Classic Bash will start at 6:00 p.m. with a pig roast at The Checkered Flag Bar and Grill. The Pig Roast is available for $5 with a pit wrist band, or $10 without and includes beverages. The full kitchen menu also will be available for those who don’t want the Pig Roast.

The racing on Saturday will consist of a complete NCRA/TORA Show with qualifying for IMCA/USRA/I-80 Speedway Type Late Models, Modifieds, Grand Nationals, Pro Ams/IMCA Stocks, B Mods and Hobby Stocks.

Saturday’s racing action starts at 6:30 p.m. with pit gates opening at 2:30 p.m. Front Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Pit passes are $30, and grandstand tickets are $18 for adults, juniors 11-17 only $15 and kids 10 and under free.

Last chancy qualifying races and feature races for IMCA/USRA/I-80 Speedway Type Late Models, Modifieds, Grand Nationals, Pro Ams/IMCA Stocks, B Mods and Hobby Stocks will be held on Sunday. The Pro Hornets, Novice Hornets and Novice Crates will race in a straight up draw feature race. The Pro Hornets purse is listed below, and the Novice Hornets and Novice Crates are racing for a trophy only.

Racing action start at 5:30 p.m., with pit gates opening at 2:30 p.m., and front gates opening at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, juniors 11-17 are only $13 and kids 10 and under free.

A 3 day pit pass is available for only $60.

A flyer and an entry form, giving a condensed version of the schedule, rules, starting times, entry fees and purses, will be available on the Nebraska Raceway Park/I-80 Speedway web site at www.neracewaypark.com or via the USPS by calling 402-342-3453 during normal business hours. All early entry fees must be received at the I-80 Speedway office prior to the close of business (5PM) on September 17, 2006. The details for each class follows:

IMCA PRO STOCKS/PRO AMS RULES: I-80 Speedway Pro-Am rules/2007 IMCA Stock Car rules. No mixing of rules between classes.

GRAND NATIONALS RULES: I-80 Speedway Sunday night Grand National rules. Exception: Cars without the required MSD rev-limiting boxes will be allowed to compete if they use a maximum 5.70 gear ratio, run a 92” tire on the right rear, and weigh the same as cars running the 7,000 RPM chip (2550# minimum).

IMCA/I-80 SPEEDWAY/USRA TYPE LATE MODELS
ENTRY FEE: $75 if paid by 5pm Sept. 17, 2007 - $100 if paid after that deadline.
RULES: I-80 Speedway rules will apply.
1) No MSD Rev Limiting Chip Rule.
2) Standard I-80 Steelhead Motor Rule: 2300#.
3) IMCA Spec Motor Rule including intake spacer: 2300#.
4) Under 370 cubic inch engine with aluminum 18 degree or 23 degree heads, must run 390 CFM carburetor at 2400#.
5) Bigger then a 370 cubic engine must run 390 CFM carburetor at 2500#.
6) All aluminum headed motors must add 40# in front of their rear engine plate. Aluminum block motors must add an additional 60# in front of their rear engine plate. (This weight will be included in your total weight.)
7) Tire Rule: WRS 55’s. No grooving or siping. Sanded with no more than 24 grit paper. (If running IMCA Spec motor option, 12” wheels and IMCA stamped tires, can be sanded by IMCA rules.)
8) 390 carbs must pass NASCAR gauges.
9) IMCA heads must pass IMCA specs.
