Arvada, CO. - Many of the country’s top Midget drivers have entered the 5th Annual “Kornhusker Midget Klassic” and the Ron Hughes JR & SR Memorial Race sponsor by Jaguar Downhole Tools to battle for over $26,000.00 in prize money.
Eagle Raceway in Lincoln, NE will host the opening night of the series on Sunday evening July 27th, and the two races series will conclude at the Butler County Motorplex in Rising City, NE on Monday evening July 28th. The series is dedicated to the late Ron Hughes SR and Ronnie Hughes JR.
Current POWRi point leader Zach Daum of Pocahonata, IL, SMRS point leader Jonathan Beason of Broken Arrow, OK, Badger Midget hotshoes Jerry Coons JR of Tucson, AZ and Davey Ray of Loves Park, IL and defending POWRi Champion Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, MO are the latest to file entries.
Earlier entries include Driver of the Year Brad Kuhn of Avon, IN, former RMMRA Champion Keith Rauch of Thornton, CO, current RMMRA point leader and former champion Tony Rossi of Brighton, CO, top Colorado driver Luke Icke of Littleton, CO. Others include Matt Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Rick England of Wichita, KS, Jonathan Halford of Tulsa, OK, Evan Pardo of Jonesboro, TX, Aaron Kirk of Conroe, TX, Donovan Peterson of Brooking, S.D., Will Pierce of Lees Summit, MO, Robby Ross of St. Joseph, MO and Todd Plemons, Jace Pennetta and Brent Rees, all of Arvada, CO.
Some 30 to 35 cars are expected to start “Midget Money Week 08”. The Midgets will continue their busy week at McCool Junction, NE on Tuesday July 29th and Wednesday July 30th and wind it up at the Belleville Midget Nationals on Friday August 1st and Saturday August 2nd.
Pit gates will open at Eagle Raceway at 2:00 p.m. and Butler County Motorplex will open their pit gates at 3:30 p.m. For info on the Kornhusker Klassic contact Mitch Miller at 303-427-6025.
