Deery doubleheader at Eagle starts race to
title in 22nd IMCA J & J Steel Late Model tour
EAGLE, Neb. (March 22) – First laps will be turned next weekend at
Eagle Raceway in the race to the Deery Brothers Summer Series
championship.
The 22nd annual tour for IMCA J & J Steel Late Models opens with its
first-ever visit to Eagle, headlining the March 29-30 Ice Breaker
Challenge special. Saturday’s feature pays $1,000 to win, with first
place in the Sunday show good for $2,000.
“We look forward to seeing one of the most competitive series in
Deery history, and a number of veterans and newcomers are planning
to make the trip to Eagle,” tour director Kevin Yoder said. “Most of
them have had their cars ready to go for some time now. They’re
excited about getting the season started.”
Pit gates at Eagle open at 1 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing
starts at 5 p.m. both days. IMCA Modifieds run each night, the IMCA
Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Saturday and the IMCA Sport Compacts on Sunday.
Both Modified features pay $1,000 to win and are qualifying events
for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
Four April dates fill the Deery schedule before the start of the
regular Late Model point season. The series is at 34 Raceway in West
Burlington, Iowa, on Saturday. April 12 and at Quincy, Ill., Raceway
on Sunday, April 13.
A second twinbill is on tap with shows Friday, April 18 at Davenport,
Iowa, Speedway and Saturday, April 19 at Jackson County Speedway in
Maquoketa, Iowa.
