2008 Adams County Speedway season set to go green

From Greg Hampel, Adams County Speedway

The 2008 Adams County Speedway season is just about set to go green.
This will be the 25th season under the NASCAR banner for the speedway,
and the 26th under the promotion of Hampel Racing. This will be the
second season under the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series banner.

Practice day for the 2008 season is scheduled for April 5th. The pit
gate will open at 2:00 and hot laps will start between 4:00 and 5:00,
depending on how soon everyone gets signed in and NASCAR licenses
purchased. Pit passes will be $5. To encourage NASCAR license
purchases a coupon packet given to all members who get signed up on
practice day at the latest. The grandstands will be open and have free
admission.

Should practice day be cancelled due to weather, pit gate personnel
will be at J.O.'s in downtown Corning starting at 4:00 to process
NASCAR licenses, register car numbers, collect the remainder of the
pit pad fees, and distribute AMB transponders. Please try to come
register if we rain out practice so we can help the pit gate lines for
opening night. Rain or shine, J.O.'s will host their annual practice
day party with everyone's favorite, free food, being served at 7:00
with dancing starting at 9:00.

Opening night will be April 12th. Grandstand admission will be $10 for
adults, $5 for students, and 12 and under free. The grandstand will
open at 5:00 with hot laps at 6:30 and the first race of 2008 taking
the track at 7:00. Opening night pit gate will open at 4:00 at the
latest. We may open the pit gate sooner and will let everyone know
after practice day. We will post that information at
www.acspeedway.com For other questions, call 712-785-3271.

Now to the additional information not listed in the press release that
may pertain to drivers, fans, crews or all of the above.

Licenses and coupons: As stated, for those getting their NASCAR
licenses bought by practice day at the latest there is a coupon packet
available for you. It includes 4 grandstand passes from Hampel Racing
and 4 food coupons from the Adams County Fair and Racing Association.
We will also need to thank Staci Hull from the Corning Community
Chamber of Commerce for putting together their "Sample Corning" coupon
booklet again. Apparently, this was in the planning stages, but after
I had contacted a few businesses I then called Staci and she offered
to put the booklet into high gear and get it done in time for us to
use. We also have a discount code that will be provided to members for
www.petheirs.com and products purchased with this discount code will
put money into the track's point fund money at the end of the season.
BUT REMEMBER THIS, I HAVE SAID THAT AFTER PRACTICE DAY I WILL NOT BE
ISSUING THE GRANDSTAND PASSES AND THE FOOD COUPONS WILL BE GONE FROM
THE PACKETS AS WELL, SO WAITING TILL OPENING NIGHT TO PURCHASE YOUR
NASCAR LICENSE WILL COST YOU $60 WORTH OF TICKETS!!! This should be
plenty of incentive to get you license done before opening night. If
you cannot make it to practice then mail it to me with a check made
out to NASCAR.

TRANSPONDERS: If you would like to swing by the office this week to
get your hard-wired transponder that would be much appreciated as I
will have plenty to do on Saturday. Also, if you ran a hard-wired last
year and don't plan to run enough to warrant having one this year, let
me know with a call so I can let someone else use it.

16 AND UNDER IN THE PITS: I have just now completed my insurance
purchase for the year. We have switched companies for the insurance on
the grandstand and the non-NASCAR members in the pits. We will have
the forms at the track for anyone needing to sign up their kids for
going into the pits. It is a yearly form to sign, so even if you did
one last year, you need to do it again this year. Also, if you cannot
make it to practice, let me know and I will mail you the form so you
can have it done before coming to the track.

See you Saturday for the first of 25 straight sunny Saturdays.
