On Monday July 3, I-80 Speedway presents the Lawrence Ideus Memorial race featuring ASCS Midwest vs. N. Plains 360 Sprints, Home Pride Modifieds and 305 Sprint Cars.
Bonus money is up for all three classes, with $2000 going to the winner of the ASCS A feature, and $325 to start (click for full sprint purse). $600 goes to the Modified winner (click for full purse) with $350 to the 305 champ (click for full purse).
Adults are $12, and Seniors and Students are $10 and Kids 10 and under are still FREE. Monday the pit gate opens at 4pm, the grandstand gate opens at 4:30pm, with hot laps at 7pm with racing to follow.

NCRA Late Models at JMS July 1

PARK CITY, Kan. (June 27, 2006)
With victories in two of the last three features, defending series champion Kelly Boen has moved to within 45 points of the top spot in the O’Reilly NCRA Late Model Series, presented by ICM/Ethanol.
Steve Kosiski opened the season with two wins and has stayed on top of the standings. His June 17 victory at Dodge City (Kan.) Raceway Park gave him three wins in the first four shows and a 115-point lead over Boen. Both drivers are still running well – it’s just that Boen has been running a little better.
In the three shows since then, they each have three top five finishes. Kosiski has a second, third, and fifth; Boen has a pair of wins and a fifth.
On the season, Kosiski has seven top five finishes in as many shows. Boen can almost match those numbers, with a 12th-place finish at Lucas Oil Speedway being the only blemish.
With 11 races to go, including three this weekend, the championship is still definitely up for grabs. They make the first of two visits this season to Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on Saturday. Boen won two of three shows there last year and was fifth in the other. Kosiski raced there twice, finishing fourth and fifth.
Sunday the late models roll onto the famed Belleville (Kan.) High Banks where Boen has really been on a tear. He has won the last three shows at Belleville, including June 18. Kosiski hasn’t done as well, running fifth in June. Last year he was third in one show but didn’t make it out of the B-feature in the other.
They close the Fourth of July weekend with their annual visit to State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City on July 3. Boen wasn’t at last year’s show while Kosiski finished fourth.
Boen has a comfortable margin over Brett LaFollette, who holds third place by only 50 points over Billy Murphy. Rookie of the year point leader Steve Kempt trails Murphy by 57 points in the overall standings. Rookie of the year contender Gary Billings is sixth, only 14 points behind Kempt.
Only 105 points separate positions seven through 10. After winning his first-ever NCRA late model feature last weekend Johnny Bone Jr. is seventh, tied for eighth are former champions Delbert Smith (2001) and Al Purkey (2003-2004), while Ted Martin is tenth.

Friday night, the series takes to the super fast 3/8-mile Junction Motor Speedway dirt oval in McCool Junction. It marks the second stop of the season for the ASCS Midwest Region at JMS. Sioux Falls driver Jake Peters won the May 26th event at Junction Motor Speedway.
Brian Brown of Missouri enters the weekend with a 23-point lead over 19-year-old Giltner, NE, racer Chad Humston. South Dakota's Chuck Swenson is five more points back in third, while Lincoln's Toby Chapman jumped to fourth in points with his first career ASCS Midwest Region feature win last Friday night at U.S. 36 Raceway in Cameron, MO. Ness City, KS, contender Luke Cranston and 16-year-old Springfield, NE, shoe Jack Dover are tied for fifth in points, just 46 points off the lead pace. Eagle Raceway Dinner Cruise
Tomorrow is the last day to purchase tickets for the Eagle Raceway / River City Star, cruise on July 11th.
Tickets will be on sale at the grandstand entrance before the races and if there are any left they will be sold during intermission. JOE KOSISKI, LIVINGSTON, FOOTE & BERGREN TAKE NASCAR FEATURES AT I-80 SPEEDWAY

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/25/06) The action of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
keeps getting hotter at I-80 Speedway as Joe Kosiski, Dave Livingston, Brian
Foote and Brad Bergren came away with hard fought victories Sunday night.
The Dodge Super Late Model 25 lap feature started with Joe Kosiski and Joe
Julian on the front row based on the one week point average. Kosiski jumped in
front as Jim Stannard waved the green flag with Mike Wallace following in
2nd. Wallace, Leon Zeitner and Al Zeitner would wage a spirited battle for
the 2nd spot before Leon took it on lap 14. But Ed Kosiski was on the move
from his 9th starting position. With the help of several caution periods Ed
was able to move into 2nd on lap 18. He managed to reel his brother in
but could’nt get past him either high or low and had to settle for 2nd. Joe is
currently leading the Division II points and this was his 3rd feature win on
his home track. Ed is leading the track points in his Dodge sponsored Late
Model, but has yet to secure a win on the season.
The Home Pride Pro-Modified feature saw Justin Clark grab the early lead
followed by Tom Flegg. Mike Johnson, who started 8th and Brian Foote, who
started 7th moved into 3rd and 4th on lap 2. Foote took the lead on lap 4 and held
it til a lap 10 restart when Mike Meyers got by him. Foote stayed right with him
and started testing spots on the track and plotting his strategy. Finally with 1
lap left Foote made a high side pass to retake the lead and go on to his 2nd
win of the year. He is the current point leader. Jeremiah Sillman, Clark and
Johnson rounded out the top 5.
Gary Leapley had been plagued by bad luck so far in 2006. So he went back
to the drawing board and brought out his 2005 car. He started the Grand
National feature on the pole and flew out front followed by Trevor Millikan.
After a lap 2 restart Leapley started putting distance between himself and the
rest of the field. Dave Livingston, who started 10th, was making his way to
the front and waged a 3 way battle for 2nd with Millikan and Todd Hipnar.
Livingston won that battle on lap 13 and began to run down Leapley.
A yellow flag with 3 laps left put Livingston right on Leapley’s bumper.
Livingston then challenged Leapley and finally on the last lap got past him
on the back chute and went on to take the checkers first.
The Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stock feature saw “Sponge Bob”
Kracher take the early lead from Jeremy Smith. Kracher lost his lead on
lap 2 when the driveshaft exited his car. Justin Leach inherited the lead
only to lose it moments later to Jesse Sobbing. Leach got the lead back
when Sobbing’s car caught fire and went to the infield. A lap 14 restart saw Brad
Bergren take the lead and go on to his first win of the year. In winning Bergrin
picked up an extra $200 bonus from Tom and Tiff’s Family Restaurant in
Glenwood, Iowa.
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action continues next Sunday with the Firecracker
Spectacular and Military Appreciation night and huge Fireworks. There will also be
Double Super Late Model Features. Then on Monday it will be the Lawrence Ideus
Memorial Race featuring the ASCS Midwest Region and Northern Plains Region Sprint
Car Series. Sunday nights hot laps are at 6 with racing at 6:30. Monday night hot
Laps will be at 7 with racing beginning at 7:30.

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/25/06) The action of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
keeps getting hotter at I-80 Speedway as Joe Kosiski, Dave Livingston, Brian
Foote and Brad Bergren came away with hard fought victories Sunday night.
The Dodge Super Late Model 25 lap feature started with Joe Kosiski and Joe
Julian on the front row based on the one week point average. Kosiski jumped in
front as Jim Stannard waved the green flag with Mike Wallace following in
2nd. Wallace, Leon Zeitner and Al Zeitner would wage a spirited battle for
the 2nd spot before Leon took it on lap 14. But Ed Kosiski was on the move
from his 9th starting position. With the help of several caution periods Ed
was able to move into 2nd on lap 18. He managed to reel his brother in
but could’nt get past him either high or low and had to settle for 2nd. Joe is
currently leading the Division II points and this was his 3rd feature win on
his home track. Ed is leading the track points in his Dodge sponsored Late
Model, but has yet to secure a win on the season.
The Home Pride Pro-Modified feature saw Justin Clark grab the early lead
followed by Tom Flegg. Mike Johnson, who started 8th and Brian Foote, who
started 7th moved into 3rd and 4th on lap 2. Foote took the lead on lap 4 and held
it til a lap 10 restart when Mike Meyers got by him. Foote stayed right with him
and started testing spots on the track and plotting his strategy. Finally with 1
lap left Foote made a high side pass to retake the lead and go on to his 2nd
win of the year. He is the current point leader. Jeremiah Sillman, Clark and
Johnson rounded out the top 5.
Gary Leapley had been plagued by bad luck so far in 2006. So he went back
to the drawing board and brought out his 2005 car. He started the Grand
National feature on the pole and flew out front followed by Trevor Millikan.
After a lap 2 restart Leapley started putting distance between himself and the
rest of the field. Dave Livingston, who started 10th, was making his way to
the front and waged a 3 way battle for 2nd with Millikan and Todd Hipnar.
Livingston won that battle on lap 13 and began to run down Leapley.
A yellow flag with 3 laps left put Livingston right on Leapley’s bumper.
Livingston then challenged Leapley and finally on the last lap got past him
on the back chute and went on to take the checkers first.
The Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stock feature saw “Sponge Bob”
Kracher take the early lead from Jeremy Smith. Kracher lost his lead on
lap 2 when the driveshaft exited his car. Justin Leach inherited the lead
only to lose it moments later to Jesse Sobbing. Leach got the lead back
when Sobbing’s car caught fire and went to the infield. A lap 14 restart saw Brad
Bergren take the lead and go on to his first win of the year. In winning Bergrin
picked up an extra $200 bonus from Tom and Tiff’s Family Restaurant in
Glenwood, Iowa.
NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series action continues next Sunday with the Firecracker
Spectacular and Military Appreciation night and huge Fireworks. There will also be
Double Super Late Model Features. Then on Monday it will be the Lawrence Ideus
Memorial Race featuring the ASCS Midwest Region and Northern Plains Region Sprint
Car Series. Sunday nights hot laps are at 6 with racing at 6:30. Monday night hot
Laps will be at 7 with racing beginning at 7:30.

Trauernicht Sweeps Beatrice Mods
Trauernicht, Carmichael, Vanover JR, Chab, Watts, Frye and Stohs/Holle take home wins at Beatrice Speedway.

David Trauernicht of Beatrice took home the win in the IMCA Modifieds for a clean sweep on the night. He was followed across the line by Johnny Saathoff, Bob Zoubek, Jordan Grabouski and Greg Metz.
Hugh Carmichael of Blue Springs took home his second win of the season in the IMCA Stock Cars. He led Tyler Phelps, Lance Borgman, Josh Carpenter and Todd Laflin across the line.
Tom Vanover Jr of Beatrice and Benji Legg put on a whale of a show for the fans in the Limited Modifieds in the closing laps with Vanover Jr getting the win. Legg, Dennis Swett, Justin Hill and Max Roberts rounded out the front 5.
Eric Chab of DeWitt won the closest finish of the evening by taking the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks over Brian Langdale by inches at the flagstand. Langdale, Aron DeWalt, Greg Post and Matt Fralin followed him across the line.
Jeff Watts of Wymore took home the win in the Factory Stocks. Jeremy Jensen, Aaron Roth, Roy Armstrong and Neal Mittan completed the first 5.
Tyler Frye of Belleville KS took home the win in the IMCA Sport Compacts. Nate Canham, Josh Wiens, Jay Kreft and Nina Breeden rounded out the front 5.
Daniel Stohs and Jeff Holle took home the win in the Cruisers. There were followed across the line by Jeff and Darrell Schlabach, Darren Meinke and Nate Rosentreader, Erin and Jarod Schlabach and Jon Carpenter and Justin Remmers.

FIRST TIME FEATURE WINNERS AT I-80

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/24/06) What a night of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing
action that included a 15 minute wait for a rain shower. The fans who stuck it
out saw 5 first time winners for 2006 in Joe Feyen, Kevin Bruck, Trish Dover, Corey
Hutchison, Todd Morgan and Justin (Soulman Jr) Soule.
The Pro-am 18 lap feature got off to a bank up start as Chad Sanders took the early
lead. But on lap 2 Mike Powell got upside down between turns 3 and 4 bringing
out the red flag. The rescue crew was very carefull getting him out of the car as
he was complaining of back pains. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
On the restart Sanders hung on to the lead, but Joe Feyen was on the move taking
2nd on lap 6 and overtaking Sanders on lap 9. Marty Steinbech made a late race
charge but had to settle for 2nd at the checkered flag. Sanders had his best finish of
the year in 3rd ahead of Tim Podraza and Nick Steier.
The B-Mod feature saw Floyd Richards take command at the drop of the
green flag and appeared to be the car to beat on this night. Bruck, making his
first appearance of the year at I-80, started 8th and found himself in 2nd by lap 3.
From there to the finish Richards did everything he could to hold off Bruck.
But Bruck got past him with one lap left and went on to record the win. Richards
Hung on to 2nd ahead of point leader Harry Nixon..
19 year old Trish Dover spent most of her day in a ballroom dancing competiton.
But when the green flag dropped in the 305 Sprint Car Feature, she did’nt dance
with the fellas, she ran off and hid from them. After starting on the outside front
row Dover shot out front and stayed there the entire 12 laps for her first career
feature win. After a rainout down the road Trish’s whole family was there to help
her celebrate.
The Crate Late Model 20 lap A-Feature saw Todd Morgan take the early lead
from Dave Livingston. On lap 13 Jason Hobscheidt put a slide job on Morgan
coming out of turn 4 and took the lead. The next time around officials threw the
yellow flag to set Hobscheidt back for aggressive driving. Morgan held on from
that point for his 1st win of the year. Hobscheidt finished 2nd ahead of Brad Soll,
Jody Krug and Brad Perdue. Point leader Billy Leighton Jr. finished 8th.
The Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro-Hornets had over 30 cars on hand so they

FIRST TIME FEATURE WINNERS AT I-80

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/24/06) What a night of NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing
action that included a 15 minute wait for a rain shower. The fans who stuck it
out saw 5 first time winners for 2006 in Joe Feyen, Kevin Bruck, Trish Dover, Corey
Hutchison, Todd Morgan and Justin (Soulman Jr) Soule.
The Pro-am 18 lap feature got off to a bank up start as Chad Sanders took the early
lead. But on lap 2 Mike Powell got upside down between turns 3 and 4 bringing
out the red flag. The rescue crew was very carefull getting him out of the car as
he was complaining of back pains. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
On the restart Sanders hung on to the lead, but Joe Feyen was on the move taking
2nd on lap 6 and overtaking Sanders on lap 9. Marty Steinbech made a late race
charge but had to settle for 2nd at the checkered flag. Sanders had his best finish of
the year in 3rd ahead of Tim Podraza and Nick Steier.
The B-Mod feature saw Floyd Richards take command at the drop of the
green flag and appeared to be the car to beat on this night. Bruck, making his
first appearance of the year at I-80, started 8th and found himself in 2nd by lap 3.
From there to the finish Richards did everything he could to hold off Bruck.
But Bruck got past him with one lap left and went on to record the win. Richards
Hung on to 2nd ahead of point leader Harry Nixon..
19 year old Trish Dover spent most of her day in a ballroom dancing competiton.
But when the green flag dropped in the 305 Sprint Car Feature, she did’nt dance
with the fellas, she ran off and hid from them. After starting on the outside front
row Dover shot out front and stayed there the entire 12 laps for her first career
feature win. After a rainout down the road Trish’s whole family was there to help
her celebrate.
The Crate Late Model 20 lap A-Feature saw Todd Morgan take the early lead
from Dave Livingston. On lap 13 Jason Hobscheidt put a slide job on Morgan
coming out of turn 4 and took the lead. The next time around officials threw the
yellow flag to set Hobscheidt back for aggressive driving. Morgan held on from
that point for his 1st win of the year. Hobscheidt finished 2nd ahead of Brad Soll,
Jody Krug and Brad Perdue. Point leader Billy Leighton Jr. finished 8th.
The Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro-Hornets had over 30 cars on hand so they
were split up into 2 A-Feature events. The first feature saw Darin Hoegren

Eagle Raceway Rained Out
The tail end of a heavy thunderstorm cell soaked Eagle after the heat races. They'll have double features on Saturday July 1.
Of course, if it weren't for bad luck, they'd have no luck at all. Around 5:45, while watering the top of the track the tank separated from the truck and fell onto the track. About 45 minutes later, a tractor and grater pulled the tank back to the infield.

Chapman takes first ASCS Win at US 36

Thompson notches fifth win at Red Cloud

RED CLOUD, NE (June 23)—Superior’s Jon Thompson and the team of Adam Sidlo & E.J. Kothe of Hastings picked up the fifth win of the season in their respective divisions at The Speed Bowl in Red Cloud, NE, Friday evening, June 23.
Lonnie Veteto of Belleville, KS, led the first 2 laps of the IMCA Modified feature before the tenth starting Thompson dove into the lead. Two laps later, Red Cloud’s Lonnie Schriner moved to second and the chase was on. The top two cars pulled away from the rest of the field, even with 3 caution flags during the 20-lap race. Schriner stayed close but could not make a pass and had to settle for second. Jordan Grabouski finished third, followed by Brandon Blochlinger and Joby Hanson. Heat race winners were Thompson, Blochlinger, and Brian Calhoon.
The Cruiser feature had a couple of cautions, the last one coming on lap 9 of the 10-lap race. Ron & Kent Duffy of Guide Rock led the field back to green with 2 laps to go and were able to hold off heat two winners Sidlo & Kothe to the checkered flag. However, the Duffy’s did not pass post-race tech and Sidlo & Kothe were awarded the win, their fifth of the season at the 3/8-mile oval. Pat & Joe Hersh were second, followed by Jeremy Teselle & Dalton Remus. Josh & Vic Jacobitz won the other heat race.
Jason McCartney of Smith Center, KS, and Geoff Jermark of Beloit, KS, swapped the lead four times in the first four laps of the 18-lap IMCA Stock Car feature before Jermark took the lead on lap five and drove away from the field to score his first ever feature win in the caution free race. Josh Hudson finished a distant second, while McCartney won the battle for third over Cory Struckhoff and Troy Attwood. Jermark and Jared Remus were victorious in the two heat races.
Franklin’s Chase Carraher led all 14 laps of the IMCA Hobby Stock feature to earn his second win of the season. The lone caution in the race came on lap 7, but Carraher was able to pull away on the restart and was first to the checkers. Heat two winner Joe McDole placed second, trailed by Jared Lewis, heat one winner Jamie Reiman, and Mike Shriver.
Racing returns to The Speed Bowl Friday evening, June 30, as the regular four divisions return to action. The first green flag flies at 8:00 p.m.

NRP statement regarding June 18 Zeitner DQ
On Sunday June 18, Super Late Model driver Cory Zeitner was stripped of his A feature win after he was disqualified for having a modified iginition box equipped with a delay timer that would allow bypassing of the mandatory rev-limiter chip.
After debate, NRP staff released this statement and have made photos available (click here) of the illegal box and a stock MSD unit.

"First, I-80 Speedway takes any disqualification very seriously, and so does NASCAR. We've also consulted with the Adams County Speedway on this matter.
Corey was DQ'd because his MSD 6A Ignition box failed our inspection process in regards to the rpm limiting chip.
Subsequent inspection of the confiscated MSD 6A box revealed that a delay timer had been installed in the chip circuit. Basically, you start the car and this timer gives you 4 minutes of run time with the chip inoperable.
This particular timer was adjustable and set for approximately 4 minutes. Other timers that we've researched come with a preset time and are much smaller in size.
Pictures of the modified box have been sent to our web master and they will be available asap. A legal 6A box is also pictured next to it for comparision. The pictures have also been emailed to MSD for their use and we'll make the box available to them for further inspection.
After further discussions with ACS and NASCAR, the following penaly is being imposed: $1000 fine and a 30 day suspension from all NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series events at I-80 Speedway.
Furthermore, the following amendent has been made to the I-80 Speedway and Adams County Speedway Super Late Model Rules:
Section 6, Item G:
'Any infraction of ignition system rules, including but not limited to RPM limiting or traction control devices, will result in a joint penalty phase enforced at ACS and NRP. First offense will be a $1000 fine and a 30 day suspension from NASCAR point races at both tracks. The second offense will be a $5000 fine and a 1 calendar year suspension from NASCAR point races at both tracks. Infractions within 30 days of the end of the season that incur a 30 day penalty will result in any remainder of the suspension period being carried over to the beginning NASCAR point races of the next season at both tracks.'

For Sunday, area Dodge dealers and I-80 Speedway have joined forces to present Fan Appreciation Night and the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series this Sunday, June 25 th at the Speedway. FREE General Admission Tickets are for the Grandstands only and not good for admission to the pits.

Nicholson, Carlson, Krug, and Myers Pick Up Feature Wins at I-80 Speedway

(GREENWOOD, NEB., 06/18/06) John Nicholson, Scott Carlson, Jody Krug, and Tom Myers all picked up "A" feature wins on Fathers Day at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway.
The 25 lap Dodge Super Latemodel "A" feature event saw pole sitter Jeff Tilley jump out to an early lead on lap one. Tilley would loose the top spot on lap three when Corey Zeitner would make the move on the outside for the lead. On lap six the race would see its only stoppage when the #8x of Ron Tex Jr. came to a stop in turn three. After that it was all Zeitner who took the double checkered flags. In post race inspection Zeitner's #26JR was found to be illegal. That gave the win to John Nicholson. Bryant Goldsmith was second, followed by Jeff Tilley, Ed Kosiski, and Scott Koskovich. With Ed Kosiski finishing in the fourth position and points leader Joe Kosiski finishing 12th, Ed Kosiski becomes the points leader for the first time in the 2006 season.
The 18 lap Home Pride Modified race had outside front row starter Scott Carlson lead every lap and pick up his first win of the season. Mike Johnson, Mike Lineberry, Brian Foote and Jeff James rounded out the top five.
Just like the Modifieds, outside front row starter Jody Krug jumped to an early lead in the Grand National divisions "A" main. Lap five would be a tough lap as three different yellows would come out. The first was for a single car spin by Kathy Cook. The second was for a major pile up involving Joey Bauer, Joe Feyen, Kortney Kosiski, Scott Krause-Mahan, Trevor Millikan, Dave Hanke, and Ron Tilley. The third yellow was for an accident that sent Gary Leapley and points leader Dave Doll to the rear. When racing resumed it was Krug in the lead with Brian Scott close behind. Krug would keep the lead for the remaining of the race to take his second win of the season. Scott finished second, Brad Soll third, Dave Cook brought home fourth, and Dave Livingston finished fifth.
The Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stocks would have Tom Myers take the win in the 15 lap event. Jesse Sobbing, who tried a late race pass for the lead, finished second. Josh True, Chad Bassinger, and Justin Leech rounded out the top five. Tom & Tiff’s Family Restaurant of Glenwood, Iowa stepped up to add $100 to the winner's purse, but since Tom Myers won the race he added this weeks money to next week. So next week the Hobby Stock winner will get an extra $200.

Beatrice 6-17-06 Results
SUTTON, FRITZSON,CARPENTER,SWETT,ROTH AND STOHS/HOLLE TAKE HOME WINS AT BEATRICE SPEEDWAY

Spencer Sutton of Odell took the lead from Eric McMillan in the IMCA Modifieds late in the race after McMillan inherited it a lap earlier when leader David Trauernicht had mechanical problems in turns 1 and 2. Sutton held off a late charge by Johnny Saathoff to take home the win. Saathoff, Dan Nelson, Eric McMillan and Greg Metz rounded out the first 5.
Justin Fritzson of Blue Rapids, KS took the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks over Travis Runcie after taking the lead on a late restart he then took charge leading Runcie, Kent Husted, Max Harder and Brian Langdale across the stripe.
Josh Carpenter of Fairbury charged too the lead around a 1/3 of the way through the IMCA Stock Cars and led Dallas Dobrovolny, Darcy Dobrovolny, James Griffith and Lance Borgman too the checkers.
Dennis Swett of Fairbury inherited the lead with 2 laps to go in the Limited Modifieds when race leader Dave Trauernicht had mechanical problems in turn 4 and had to be helped to the pits. Swett held off Craig Evers, Justin Hill, Benji Legg and Dan McKnight to take home the win.
Aaron Roth of Pleasant Dale lost the lead to Jeff Watts only to have it returned when Watts lost a valve cover gasket and was sent to the pits with the black flag. Roth led Roy Armstrong, Neal Mittan, Gary Laflin, and Tim Hessheimer Sr to the checkers.
Jeff Stohs and Daniel Holle of Hanover ,KS took home the win in the Cruisers they were followed across the line by Meinke/Rosentreader, Little/Little, Schlabach/Schlabach and Brunkow/Brunkow.

Spencer Sutton of Odell took the lead from Eric McMillan in the IMCA Modifieds late in the race after McMillan inherited it a lap earlier when leader David Trauernicht had mechanical problems in turns 1 and 2. Sutton held off a late charge by Johnny Saathoff to take home the win. Saathoff, Dan Nelson, Eric McMillan and Greg Metz rounded out the first 5.
Justin Fritzson of Blue Rapids, KS took the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks over Travis Runcie after taking the lead on a late restart he then took charge leading Runcie, Kent Husted, Max Harder and Brian Langdale across the stripe.
Josh Carpenter of Fairbury charged too the lead around a 1/3 of the way through the IMCA Stock Cars and led Dallas Dobrovolny, Darcy Dobrovolny, James Griffith and Lance Borgman too the checkers.
Dennis Swett of Fairbury inherited the lead with 2 laps to go in the Limited Modifieds when race leader Dave Trauernicht had mechanical problems in turn 4 and had to be helped to the pits. Swett held off Craig Evers, Justin Hill, Benji Legg and Dan McKnight to take home the win.
Aaron Roth of Pleasant Dale lost the lead to Jeff Watts only to have it returned when Watts lost a valve cover gasket and was sent to the pits with the black flag. Roth led Roy Armstrong, Neal Mittan, Gary Laflin, and Tim Hessheimer Sr to the checkers.
Jeff Stohs and Daniel Holle of Hanover ,KS took home the win in the Cruisers they were followed across the line by Meinke/Rosentreader, Little/Little, Schlabach/Schlabach and Brunkow/Brunkow.

Accident Claims Life of NST's Fred Brownfield
Fred Brownfield, one of the nation's top short-track promoters, and founder of the new National Sprint Tour died from injuries suffered after being struck by a modifed at Gray's Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA.

After all the craziness last weekend, things begin to settle down just a little as the dog days of summer begin to set in. Let's hope the forecasts don't pan out, but unfortunately, I'll have to take the bet that a 90% chance of rain tonight will wash someone out. Let's hope I'm wrong.
- Beatrice Speedway is starting their shows at 7:00 PM for the rest of the year starting this Saturday.
- If you need an example of why I don't like the two-lap rule, look at Saturday's WoO feature at Eagle. I understand its need for a traveling series, but a 48-minute A feature? Even with the wrecks, there was a long time spent in the pits, too.
- Several specials this week: Both Eagle Raceway and I-80 are offering Father's Day specials. Eagle's giving free admission to Dad's when they bring their children on Saturday, I-80 is extending the offer to dad's with a paid adult on Sunday.
- Eagle Raceway is advertising "The Gauntlet" next week. What is it? When I talked to Roger Hadan after the Outlaws on Friday night, he told me it involved the Short Bus with a rollbar, five hornets, paintball guns, and a Subway restaurant sign attached to the bottom of the bus. Oh man...
- Johnny Saathoff is the new IMCA National Point leader as of this week.
- Notice how quiet it was on the Dirtdrivers.com Eagle Raceway Message Board this week? Was it a tired bunch after 3 days of racing, did all go well, or did Hadan's threat of a $500 fine for starting trouble on the boards have something to do with it? I say it's a little from all three.
- I-80's gearing up for Clint Bowyer / Carl Edwards night in July. They've also announced a celebrity tournament of champions race with past I-80 champions.
- Friday's WoO show showed what the group is capable of. A furious A feature with a last lap pass gave Daryn Pittman his first win of the year, and set him up for a sweep of the weekend. A heavily-watered surface delayed the show an hour, but it was worth it and a good call. The track was very good and better than the cooler Saturday night's event.
- According to some WoO staff, Saturday's Eagle Raceway crowd was one of the biggest they've seen this season. Granted, it wasn't bad (sorry, but Friday's crowd was ummm...sparse), but if that's the biggest, the WoO need some help. I wonder how much value a $30 ticket is to that show? We'll see what happens when SLS Motorsports RENTS the track from Eagle and promotes the one-night September show.
- Talk about bad luck... On the worst possible night, a hot (temps around 100) and windy Friday June 10, the Butler County Motorplex water truck gave out. Go to the backup, right? Nope. The radiator hose crapped out on that one. Fortunately the Rising City and Surprise fire truck and KWJ custom spray applicator came to the rescue and helped salvage the night.
- In the media: The Dover family was featured in the Lincoln Journal-Star's Turn Three page this week. (See my photo of Davey Nall in the corner? LOL). Sprint car driver Ryan Roberts made a good showing on 104.1 The Blaze this morning.
- I-80 is looking to get the numbers up in the Hobby Stock class. Stereo West Auto Toys will pay the number/registration fee of any new Hobby Stock at NRP Sunday June 18.In conjunction, NRP will also help with the NASCAR licence fee. On top of that, Tom & Tiff’s Family Restaurant of Glenwood, Iowa is adding $100 to the winner's share of the purse.
- On Friday June 30, the ASCS Midwest sprint series will be at Junction Motor Speedway, and the next night, July 1 will see NCRA Late Models replace the CNCTA show. As always, supporting these shows helps bring them back.
- Speaking of CNCTA Late Models, Eagle's Roger Hadan said Friday's WoO support appearance was a "test" for possible future late model shows. Despite the showing of Butler County point leader Travis Dickes, only 12 late models showed, despite being paid more to win than their weekly offering at JMS. When asked to help pack the heavy track, most balked (except for Dan Jackson), and was told by officials there was complaining about lineups and whatnot. I'll give the benefit of the doubt that there were other shows in the area for the low car count. Davey Nall walked away with the feature. With that in mind, if this was a test, I'd grade it a C.
- As a reward for his helping out Roger Hadan gave Dan Jackson $50 to wash the car. So, what did he do? He pulled the car out and went to Eagle and WASHED IT! I've heard of of going to town to get parts, even another car (Mike Meyer did it and won the A feature a few years ago). But going out for a wash? That's STYLE!
- I've been told that there will be an interesting handicap on Saturday night in one of Eagle's classes. A few weeks ago, Mike Boston was offered $500 to start one row back in the Sprint A feature. This week? I'm told it involves the scale.
- Jason Danley was the top Nebraska driver Thursday night in the ASCS Midwest/N. Plains race at Park Jefferson Speedway last night finishing 7th in the A. Chad Humston came in 13th, Bobby Becker 16th, Jack Dover 17th. The series heads to Denison, IA Friday night.

I-80 Speedway Race of Champions

I-80 Speedway is pleased to announce that Sunday, July 30th will be the 1st Annual I-80 Speedway Race of Champions in association with Carl Edwards/Clint Bowyer Night. This special race will be I-80 Speedway's version of the Nextel Cup's All-Star Race.
The 1st Annual I-80 Speedway Race of Champions will be the last feature of the evening. Each driver who has won a point championship or major race at I-80 Speedway in a full bodied late model car since the purchase of I-80 Speedway by LDI in April of 2004 have been invited.

Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame Website Now Online

I-80 Speedway Partners with Nebraska Lottery
Message Board - dirtdrivers.com: "Nebraska Raceway Park’s I-80 Speedway announces partnership with the Nebraska Lottery! “Both fans and drivers will benefit from this partnership” stated Tom Gutowski, General Manager. Each night of the Dodge Weekly Racing Series 100 lucky fans will find numbers 1-20 in their souvenir program and those fans will have the chance to play the “Power ball race of the night”. Each night, a division will be selected for the “Power ball race of the night”. The numbers will match scheduled starting positions 1-20. The program number that matches the winning drivers scheduled starting position will win $30 in free Nebraska Lottery coupons. 5 winners per night!
Also, each night selected divisions will receive Nebraska Lottery Coupons as well. A list of the division, nights and coupon amounts are outlined below. $10,000 in prizes will be awarded over 30 nights of racing. I'm Tired
Long weekend with three races straight, and a lot of socializing afterward.
Here's another reason why I hate the 2-lap rule, or in the Outlaws' case, 3-laps - it pushes me to deadline. That A feature Saturday night took a long time. While the modified feature was running, I had to write the article for the Lincoln Journal. So, I listened to the FM broadcast of the Modified feature in the WoO Media Trailer and typed in the results about 1 minute to deadline. Mod fans: sorry about not getting any more details in the article.
BTW, the WoO Media Center is very cool. They've got a big HDTV monitor with the Outdoor Channel's feed (look for Haud's Saturday night flip - OUCH!), plus live scoring and wireless internet. It was very nice to work from and I have to thank the Outlaws' Chris Dolack for all his help this weekend. I had the pleasure of working with Chris when I did work for the Outlaws and he's a heck of a nice guy who takes his job very seriously and does it well.
I'll get some photos up soon from all three nights.

I-80: Leon Zeitner First Three-time Super Late Model Winner

(GREENWOOD, NEB., 06/11/06) Leon Zeitner becomes the first three time winner at I-80 Speedway as he picked up the feature win in the Dodge Super Latemodels. Jerimiah Sillman, Dave Doll, and Jesse Sobbing all visited the I-80 Speedway Winners Circle as well, on night six of the 2006 season.
The 25 lap NASCAR Dodge Super Latemodel "A" feature saw Mike Wallace take the early lead from his outside front row starting spot. On lap three, fifth place starter "Lightning Leon" Zeitner would ride the hub of the track to the lead coming off of turn four. The first yellow of the race would fly on lap ten when second place Wallace would come to a stop in turn four. His night would be over with a mechanical failure. On the restart after a quick yellow for Ron Tex Jr, Bryant Goldsmith would drive his hot rod into the third position after starting the race 15th. Zeitner would keep the lead over Ed Kosiski and Goldsmith until lap 19 when the yellow would come out for points leader Joe Kosiski who had a flat right rear tire. When the green came back out, Zeitner kept the pedal to the metal and drove to his third win of the season. Ed Kosiski and Goldsmith were second and third. Rookie Jerry Warner was fourth, and Al Zeitner was fifth.
The Home Pride Modified Division would see an early race caution on lap one when the cars of Jeremy Leiting, Mark Leiting, Jonnie Wyman, and J.C. Wyman all collided in turn two. On the restart, Bill Bader Jr. would hold the lead until lap three when the #74 of Justin Clark would make the pass for the top spot. Clark, who started fourth row inside, would keep the point until lap eight when the #52s of Jerimiah Sillman slid past him on the outside. Sillman would keep the lead through four mid-race yellows, but during the last few laps he would receive heavy pressure from Brian Foote. On the final lap Sillman and Foote would race side by side, and coming to the line it was Sillman winning by a bumper. Foote, Clark, Nick Carlson, and Mike Lineberry rounded out the top five.
The Grand National Division would have the "Dirt Dawg" Dave Doll pick up his first feature win of the season. The #J1 of Harley Moen was second. Superman Joey Bauer Jr. was third. Mark Wyman was fourth and Dave Cook was fifth.
The Stereo West Auto Toys Hobby Stocks had a very scary accident on lap eight of the 15 lap event. The #66 of Bob Kracher would get upside down going into turn three. Mike Mass, Travis Alley, and Jerod Weston were also involved in the wreck. Mass would have to be transported by ambulance to a local hospital, but his status was not available at the time of this release. When racing resumed it was points leader Jeremy Swanson keeping the lead and taking the win. In the tech area after the race, Swanson's engine was claimed by another driver. Jeremy refused the claim causing him to be disqualified. That gave the win to Jesse Sobbing. Josh True was second, Jeremy Smith was third, Weston came back for fourth, and Rick Bradley rounded out the top five.

I-80: Livingston, Leighton Late Model Winners

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/10/06) Saturday nights NASCAR , Dodge Weekly Racing Series
saw double features in the Crate Late Models with Dave Livingston winning the first
one and Bill Leighton Jr winning the 2nd one. Along the way Jason Cieslik, Harry
Nixon, Austin Kurtzer and Eric Fryman also won their respective features.
The night got started with the make up Dodge Crate Late Model feature from June 3rd.
Jason Hobscheidt and Trevor Millikan battled early on with Millikan in the lead
after 1 lap. Millikan and Hobscheidt hooked up with Livingston for a 3 wide
shootout before Hobscheidt grabbed the lead on lap 5. Livingston, running a low
groove near the inside guard rail, took the lead on lap 7. Livingston then survived
4 restarts to win his 2nd feature of the year with Hobscheidt finishing 2nd. Third
through 5th went to Mike Wallace, Bill Leighton Jr and Dave Doll.
The 2nd feature saw Jody Krug and Shawn Harker battle for the early lead
with Harker in front at the end of lap 1. Krug took the lead on lap 5 but Bill Leighton
Jr. was on the move. Leighton, the current track point leader and 5th in NASCAR
Division 4 points, moved up to take the lead on lap 12. But Krug battled with him
side by side for several laps before Leighton began pulling away. Dave Doll made
a late race charge but had to settle for 2nd ahead of Krug, Wallace and Harker.
The Certified Transmission Pro-am feature saw Chuck Dillon take the early lead
followed by Jason Cieslik. Shawn Bulin and Scotty Hartman made it a 4 car
battle for the lead. Cieslik took the lead on lap 10 and went on to record his
first win of the season. Hartman took 2nd over Bulin, Rick Negrete and Dillon.
Harry Nixon started on the outside front row of the B-Mod feature. Mike
Christiansen came on to challenge for the lead which he took on lap 8. Nixon
Retook the lead on lap 10. On the last lap going into turn 4 Christiansen tried a
Slide job to take the lead. But it failed and Nixon took the checkers for the
3rd time this year.
In the Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro-Hornet feature Austin Kurtzer took advantage
Corey Hutchison being set back 4 spots for jumping on the start, to record his 1st
win of the season. Perry Soule came on to finish 2nd and Hutchison fought back to
finish 3rd.
In the TFN Novice Hornet feature Eric Fryman took the car he borrowed from
Will McConnell and won his first feature of the year. Nate Christensen tried to
overtake him, but could’nt get the job done.
Next Saturday night will be Coca Cola night at the races. All fans will receive a
free Coca Cola product. Hot laps are at 6:30 and racing at 8. .

Beatrice: Nelson Earns Mod Victory

Jordy Nelson of Marysville, Ks took the lead early in the IMCA Modified Feature and led the whole racing taking the win over Johnny Saathoff by a slim 3-4 foot margin. Saathoff, Tom Petracek, Jordan Grabouski and David Trauernicht rounded out the front 5. Saathoff lost his motor to a claim from Brandon Johnson.
Lance Borgman of Beatrice made a late race pass on Todd Laflin to take home the win in the IMCA Stock cars. Laflin, James Griffith, Jay Holle and Eric Rempel completed the front 5.
Ryan Roschewski of Beatrice took the win in the IMCA Hobby Stocks leading from the drop of the green flag to take home the win over Aron Dewalt, Jesse Vanlaningham, Billy Parde and Eric Chab.

LJS: Pittman sweeps Eagle Nationals

Daryn Pittman swept the 24th Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway on Saturday night. The Owasso, Okla., driver stole the feature from Outlaws point leader Donny Schatz on the final lap Friday but didn’t have nearly the trouble Saturday, as he led the final 32 circuits of the 40-lap, $12,000-to-win main event. Daryn Pittman swept the 24th Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway on Saturday night. The Owasso, Okla., driver stole the feature from Outlaws point leader Donny Schatz on the final lap Friday but didn’t have nearly the trouble Saturday, as he led the final 32 circuits of the 40-lap, $12,000-to-win main event. Final-Lap Pass Lifts Daryn Pittman To Eagle Nationals Prelim Victory

So many times this season Daryn Pittman nearly raced to victory before something odd would happen late in the race, preventing him taking the checkered flag. On Friday night in the Eagle Nationals Preliminary Feature at Eagle Raceway, Pittman turned the table on Donny Schatz.
Pittman started on the pole and jumped out to a quick lead. Craig Dollansky ran him down on Lap 16 and swiped the lead with Schatz watching the action in third. On Lap 22, Schatz first busted past Pittman and then Dollansky to slide in front and pull away to what looked like a sure victory. But a caution for a spinning car in Turn 4 with three to go bunched the field with Schatz in front, Dollansky second and Pittman third.
Schatz jumped out quick on the restart, but Pittman jumped quicker. He got past Dollansky and locked onto Schatz. When Schatz slid up in Turn 2 with two laps to go, Pittman saw a potential opportunity. When Schatz did it again on the final lap, Pittman didn’t waste any time. He dove off the high-banked Turn 2 and shot down the backstretch to the lead and held on for the final two corners to drive the Titan Garages & Carports Maxim into the RacinSoles Victory Lane for the first time in 2006.
Schatz settled for second in the ParkerStore J&J with Dollansky third in the Karavan Trailers Maxim and Jeremy Campbell using a strong run in the Americas Best Value Inn Maxim to earn the final locked-in position to the dash that will set the top five rows for the main event on Saturday night.
Terry McCarl, whose left leg was broken May 20 at Sharon Speedway, returned to the track for the first time since the incident but watched as Sammy Swindell drove his Big Game Treestands Eagle to the fastest lap of the night in time trials. McCarl, who had surgery on his leg two weeks ago, tested his leg by time trialing a car owned by Mark Burch.
The Mean 15 drivers return Saturday to Eagle Raceway for the Eagle Nationals finale before competing again against the All Star Circuit of Champions on June 14 at The Raceway @ Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, Wis., and June 16-17 in the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Series is brought to the fans across the country by several sponsors and partners, including series sponsors Hoosier Racing Tire and The Outdoor Channel. Promotional Partners include AMB i.t. and The University of Northwestern Ohio. Associate sponsors are ButlerBuilt Motorsports Equipment, Maxim Racing, RacinSoles and Snap-on.
