Joe Kosiski Takes I-80 Speedway Super Latemodel Win

By Joey Sparano

(GREENWOOD, NEB., 06/04/06) NASCAR Division II front runner Joe Kosiski would come from the 12th starting spot to win the Dodge Super Latemodel "A" feature at I-80 Speedway. Mike Lineberry, Brian Scott, and Jeremy Swanson also picked up feature victories on USG night.

The 25 lap Dodge Super Latemodel "A" feature saw Billy Leighton Jr. jump to an early lead on lap one. Leighton would battle with pole sitter Clint Benson until lap six when Benson would sneak by on the outside for the lead. Three laps later Benson would loose the top spot to a charging Mike Wallace who started eighth. That same lap the race would see its first caution period as the #1m of Todd Bell would the handle of his car in turn four. Wallace would keep the lead until the lap 14 restart, that's when 12th place starter Joe Kosiski grabbed the lead coming off of turn two. Kosiski would have a 15 car length lead on lap 22, but it all diminished when the yellow flew for Keith Mander Jr. who had spun in turn three. On the restart Kosiski would have his hands full of second place runner John Nicholson who had steadily moved his way through the field. Nicholson would get along side of Kosiski, but he could not make the pass. Joe Kosiski would go on to take the win, his second of the season. Nicholson would come home second, followed by Scott Koskovich, Corey Zeitner, and Al Zeitner.

The Home Pride Modifieds had second row inside starter Mike Lineberry grab the lead on lap one. After a lap one spin by Justin Clark, the restart would see race leader Lineberry stay out front with Matt Richards and Brian Foote battling for second. Foote would get by Richards on lap four, and he then would charge after Lineberry for the lead. Lineberry and Foote would race side by side for the lead with Richards following close behind. Meanwhile Nick Carlson and Mike Meyer were racing door to door for fourth. The great racing would come to a slow on lap 14 when the #69x of Bill Bader Jr. spun. On the restart Lineberry would keep the lead and sail to his first win of the season. Foote would get second. Mike Meyer came home third, Nick Carlson fourth, and Matt Richards finished fifth.

The Grand National Division saw Brian Scott take the early lead over pole sitter Andrew Kosiski. Scott and Kosiski would run one two until lap seven when Jacob Brown and Trevor Millikan tangled on the front straightaway. After that, a host of yellows would come out for single car accidents. Scott would maintain the lead, but Kosiski would slip back on each restart. Meanwhile Dave Doll and Ron Tilley battled for the second position as Scott lead. The 20 lap feature would come to an end with Scott taking the win. Doll would edge out Tilley at the line for second. Points leader Dave Livingston would take fourth, while Jody Krug finished fifth.

It was spills and thrills night in the Stereo West AutoToys Hobby Stocks. The race would see both Rick Munson and Jeremy Auten flip their cars, while second place points runner Tom Myers made heavy contact with the turn four wall. All drivers were unhurt. When the marathon race finished, it was Jeremy Swanson taking the win with a last lap pass over Jesse Sobbing. SpongeBob Kracher, Chad Bassinger, and Josh True rounded out the top five.
