I-80 Results 6-2-06

By Jim Brennan

(Greenwood, Ne., 6/02/06) – Saturday nights NASCAR, Dodge Weekly Racing Series
went off without a hitch until feature time. And the delays were not due to racing
accidents. A woman in the grandstand needed medical attention and had
to be attended to by the ambulance crew and a trip to the hospital. Later just before the
Crate Late Model feature a person in the pits had an asthma attack calling the ambulance
into service again. It was looking like a 30 minute wait for another ambulance, so the
program was ended and double Late Model features will be run next week.

Before all this there was some exciting racing action starting with the Certified Transmission Pro-am 18 lap feature. Chuck Dillon, Terry Cleveland and Shawn
Bulin battled for the early lead with Bulin taking control as lap 1 was completed.
Tim Podraza and Larry Robinson Jr. came to the front with Podraza taking the lead
on lap 8 followed by Robinson. Robinson took the lead on lap 10 when Podraza’s motor
let go. Robinson went on to score his 2nd win of the year with Bulin in 2nd and
Rick Negrete in 3rd.. Chad Sanders who finished 4th was disqualified for weighing
Light after the feature.

The Tobacco Free Nebraska Pro-Hornet feature saw Perry “The Soulman” Soule
advance to the A after winning the B-Feature. Soule then took advantage of a
couple of yellow flags and charged to victory in the 12 lap feature. On the last restart
with 2 laps left Soule was in 2nd. He took the lead with one lap left and went on to
record his 3rd win of the year over Corey Hutchison and Austin Kurtzer.

The TFN Novice Hornets saw Nate Christensen dominate as he took his 4th win of
the year over Taylor Collins, Eric Fryman and Nate Brown.

“Rocket Rick” Germar made his first appearance of the season and stole the show.
He started in the 6th position and took his time moving up to 2nd position on lap 5.
On lap 9 early leader Harry Nixon spunout and Germar took the lead which he held
til the end. Floyd Richards finished 2nd ahead of Larry Robinson Sr. and Ben Romey.

The Outlaw Vintage Lites Racing Series was also on the card. Veteran driver Scott Naggatz started on the outside front row and was challenged early by Travis Long.
But Long went out with mechanical problems and Naggatz was never seriously
challenged the rest of the way picking up the win over Chick DeMoss.
