New format in store for 15th Spring Nationals at Beatrice

BEATRICE, Neb. - A new format for the March 14-16 Spring Nationals at
Beatrice Speedway could land as many as three different drivers on the
ballot for the 2008 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.


Feature races for IMCA Modifieds are on tap all three nights of the 15th
annual special. Top prize in the Friday show is $1,000, with a minimum of
$100 paid to start; first place on Saturday is good for $1,500, with a
minimum of $150 to start; and the winner on Saturday goes home with $2,000.
A minimum of $250 will be paid to qualify for the starting grid.


IMCA national, SuperFlow Central Region and Smiley's Racing Products
state points will be awarded all three nights. All Modified drivers are
guaranteed $75 a day in tow money.


Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run Friday and Saturday, chasing a
$500 top check in their feature. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are on Saturday
and Sunday cards, with $500 going to the main event winner.
Sport Compacts race for $200 to win on Sunday.


National, Jet Racing Northern Region and state points will be given in
the Hobby Stock class; Northern SportMod and Sport Compact drivers will get
national and state points. Non-qualifiers in the Northern SportMods and
Hobby Stocks get $75 tow money.


Entry fee for the Modifieds is $100 if mailed by March 1 or $175 after
that date; single night entry fees are $50 on Friday, $75 on Saturday and
$100 on Sunday.


SportMods and Hobby Stocks pay a $25 early entry fee, or $50 after March
1. Entry fee for the Sport Compacts is $10, or $20 after March 1.
A practice session runs from 5:30-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, with pit
passes at $10.


Pit passes are $25 and grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $5 for
kids 10 and under each night Friday through Saturday.


Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Friday, hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts
at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, gates open at 2:30 p.m., hot laps are at 4:30 p.m.
and racing begins at 6 p.m.
Sunday sees pit gates opening at 2 p.m. and racing at 4 p.m.
