Four IMCA divisions to run Friday nights at Thayer County

From IMCA:

DESHLER, Neb. (Feb. 12) – Weekly racing returns to Thayer County
Speedway this season, with first-year promoter Tommy Denton in charge
of Friday night race programs.

Ten point races are scheduled for IMCA-sanctioned Modifieds, Hobby
Stocks and Sport Compacts starting May 2, while sanctioned Stock Cars
will make five appearances at the 3/8 mile clay venue. Season
championship night is scheduled for Aug. 22.

Deshler last hosted the Modifieds, Stocks and Hobbies as a Sunday
night track in 2006. Two enduro races were held there last year.

"This is a very nice facility. The track is in good shape so we don't
need to do any major work to get it ready for opening night," said
Denton, already busy meeting with sponsors and spreading the word to
drivers on the area trade show circuit. "We want to be able to put on
good programs and get people home at a decent time."

A former factory stock competitor, Denton worked for Allen Langdale
at Beatrice Speedway and Thayer County and credits IMCA's SuperFlow
Central Region director with helping him learn the promotional ropes.

"IMCA has rules that everyone knows and that makes it easier for
drivers and track officials," he said. "Sanctioning the Modifieds was
a no-brainer. You've got to have them because they're so popular.
There are already a lot of Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts in the
area, and it sounds like we've got guys from around Beatrice and
Minneapolis, Kan., planning to race Stock Cars here."

Modified points earned at Thayer County apply in the SuperFlow
Central Region. Both Stock Car and Hobby Stock points figure in Jet
Racing Northern Region standings for the respective divisions.

The opening night show is also NAPA Night at the Races for the
Hobbies, with another $250 added to the purse for that class.
